A YGT Tradition: Ride 4 Ray

Updated: Aug 28, 2020

Since You Got This began five years ago, we have had the honor of connecting with schools, businesses, and individuals who are committed to saving lives, and have established lasting traditions that bring our community together. Among all of our traditions and events, the annual “Ride 4 Ray” remains the closest to our heart.

For those that don’t know, Ray is Chris Anderton’s (founder of YGT) son, who passed away from suicide in 2015. Since this tragedy, Chris Anderton and Dean Wilson came together to start “You Got This”, named after a phrase Ray would often say, to invest in the futures of children by educating them about the importance of suicide prevention. In addition to educating young adults and children, the foundation uses all of its funding to invest in their futures by awarding academic scholarships each year.

“Ride 4 Ray” was founded by Ray Anderton’s grandparents, Allen and Melody, to remember and honor their grandson. This year, we are proud to celebrate the 6th annual ride and continue our favorite tradition after having our best scholarship award season yet. We are honored to see the ride grow each year, as it is an event Ray himself would have loved.

Here are a few of our favorite memories from past rides and a glimpse into how much our community has grown over the years:

Year One I 2015

Year Two I 2016

Year Three I 2017

Year Four I 2018

Year Five I 2019

Year Six I 2020

Although this year has presented several difficulties for social gatherings and events, we would like to invite you all to join us this year on our ride, and will be encouraging riders to practice social distancing for the safety of all. We are proud to host community events to honor the lives that have been lost and form new connections—as it is our belief that connection is the best form of prevention.

Event Details

We are asking a $20 donation for each motorcycle or vehicle this year. The ride will begin in the parking lot of Valley Fair Mall and go from West Valley, to Roosevelt, to Vernal, and back. We will be stopping for lunch at Ray’s favorite restaurant, The Frontier Grill. Please feel free to join us for lunch at your own expense.

All donations will go directly to You Got This and will be given back to youth in our community in the form of scholarships.

After the ride, we invite you to join us at the Frontier Motel for a raffle with great prizes, and live music by our good friend Makisi Tapa! Hotel rooms will be available for those that want to spend the night.

Everyone rides and participates at their own risk.
